We study how the microenvironment shapes cellular responses with the long-term goal to advance countermeasures and therapeutics. We develop biomaterials and culture systems that mimic mechanical and physical stressors to understand tissue function, resilience, and homeostasis. Focusing on blood vessels, we uncover pathways involved in injury, aging, and disease to guide tissue healing and regeneration.
